Healthy oceans, healthy salmon. That’s our sustainability commitment.

Maintaining our pristine freshwater and marine environment is essential in producing the finest Scottish salmon.

It is at the core of our farming operations and we are dedicated to our role as environmental stewards.

That’s why we use certified sustainable sources and work with approved supply chains.

This is really important in areas like feed where we only source marine ingredients from Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) or MarinTrust certified sustainable fisheries.

Farm-raised Scottish salmon already has one of the lowest carbon footprints of all animal proteins, and we’re committed to doing more to become “carbon neutral” and play our role in tackling harmful climate change, in support of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals which recognise the role of aquaculture in feeding the world and saving the seas from over-fishing.

Our sea farms have low stocking densities with at least 98.5% water, so there’s plenty of room to allow our fish to swim and shoal just as they would in the wild.

Through our commitment to science-led research we continue to set the highest standards for responsible harvesting and sustainable processes across all aspects of our business.

Independent third-party certification programmes challenge us to go above and beyond our regulatory requirements, demonstrating our total commitment to responsible farming practices that improve fish health and welfare and safeguard the environment.

Our approach to sustainability isn’t limited to protecting the environment: it’s also about being open and transparent in our business operations, growing in a responsible way and safeguarding the future for our people and communities.
