The Simmer Dim Fishing Competition was started 15 years ago to raise money for Cancer Support Charities. It involves an all-night fishing competition as near to the Summer Solstice as possible,
taking advantage of Shetland’s 24 hour daylight at that time.
This Annual competition is a fun event which this year attracted fishermen from the UK, Canada, Norway, Denmark & Spain The weather could not have been better for the 35 Anglers who took part and 97 fish were caught, weighing a total of 98lb 7ounces.
Cooke Aquaculture Scotland and generous sponsors, together raised a record £15836 for Cancer Shetland, CLAN Shetland, and Macmillan Nurses.
